It is with regret I report that Mike Hughes has stepped down as Chair of the Tennis Committee. Many thanks to Mike for his hard work and commitment.
With the inception for the CIC the importance of the Section Committees cannot be over emphasised. The Board has asked to meet with the Tennis Section to discuss restructuring and to emphasis the importance of the Committee’s function within the CIC.
A Tennis Section EGM has been arranged for Thursday 21st July at 7pm. Please ensure a good turn out for this important meeting.
I have mentioned Hannah’s intention to step down from the Managers post. The Job Description has been updated and the post advertised. We hope to hold an appointments Committee at the end of July. In the meantime I am delighted to let you know that Victoria Floyd Ellis will cover Hannah’s absence until Sept. I would like to thanks Hannah for her generous offer to informally support Victoria during this period.
The recent media attention commemorating the Battle of the Somme reminds us of the many Welshmen who died. The dead included members of our Club and their sacrifice is recognised by a memorial monument erected by members in the years following the War. Due to recent vandalism the monument has been moved from its original site to be near the Club House. I have now set up ‘members fund’ to re-establish the monument near the top grass courts. Contributions will be collected by Ceri Adrian – please give generously as a mark of our respect for the ‘ultimate sacrifice’.
