Hello to you all – it’s been a while since my last blog, when I touched upon our continuing positive development, back then we were already preparing our strategy to deliver our vision to make the Bridgend Tennis – Squash and Bowls Club the premier club of its type in the Bridgend and Vale of Glamorgan region.
Myself and the Board of Directors, set our aims very high, and we realised we needed the assistance of someone or more likely, a sporting body that could give us the guidance and help deliver our plans.
We recognised that we had a unique opportunity, to develop our sporting options and provide a first class tennis, bowls and squash facility in the centre of Bridgend, in wonderful natural surroundings with easy access.
To our delight, when we told the British Lawn Tennis Association of our vision for the future, they not only gave us a commitment of all the expertise they have in developments of the kind we wanted to deliver, they were so impressed with our dream – they agreed to make a substantial financial investment, to ensure we could succeed.
And I’m so pleased to be able to say that despite all the anguish and disruption the whole world has been wrestling with, we have been able to make progress with the developments, and our aim remains as planned, to have the full development completed on time around November this year.
Have a look at the details of this terrific development here, and check out our full range of tennis activities for all ages, ladies and men’s and of course juniors.
Bridgend Squash Section – some exciting plans for 2021.
As with Bridgend Tennis Section and Bridgend Bowls Section, the squash section are focusing on gaining new squash members, with one of our most experienced squash players stepping up to the role of Induction Guide to meet and assist all new members.
If you’ve never played before, but like the idea, use this link to drop an email to Richard, our Induction Guide, and come along and have a chat about the game of squash and how to get started.
New Racket Game to be Introduced:
Alongside these initiatives for 2021, there is great excitement building about the plan to introduce Racquet Ball to the squash section available sports.
With the squash courts usually unused during the day time Monday through to Friday, and with Racquet Ball being a game of great appeal to all ages, in particular people who are moving into their 40-50’s and beyond, the readily available courts offer ample playing time.
For juniors, men or ladies of all ages, this game can be great fun played at a pace and style to suit the players on court.
More details to come as the Racquet Ball Section bring it all together.
Bridgend Bowls Section – all systems go for 2021.
With the Tennis and Squash Sections picking up some momentum for 2021, the Bowls Section are at full speed with new initiatives, looking for new players for the men’s bowls section and above all else, the focus on introducing a Ladies Bowls Section.
So come on ladies, we’d love to hear from you, great if you’d played before, but we’re just as keen to bring in complete beginners, we’ll provide the coaching skills to turn you into a Bridgend Champion Lawn Bowls lady.
Lawn Bowls is a great game to be involved with, it offers excellent health benefits, including improved vascular health and improved body composition in particular.
